This past Sunday our church and denomination celebrated Resurrection Sunday. As I was reflecting on it, I tried to imagine how all of Israel and especially the 12 disciples were feeling from Friday to Sunday morning. On the surface I am sure it felt like all their hopes had been dashed. But God! Our Lord has proven countless times that he can resurrect anything. If he resurrected his Son from death, how would you doubt his ability to resurrect anything in your life?
When I reassumed the leadership role of Abiding Fathers last June, to some it appeared that this vital ministry may have all but died. Among other things, the first thing I did personally was to claim the promise in Psalm 46.10. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Why this verse? I sense that I, as a human, had no ability to resurrect the vibrancy of the ministry. I believe my role was to simply pray, believe and be still, knowing that the God of the universe can do anything. That ensures that he will be exalted, glorified. Bill cannot take any credit whatsoever. He has not disappointed.
The new website has been completed and posted (www.abidingfathers.org). C*ba has continued to disciple men in spite of their dire economic conditions. To date they have discipled 6,150 men across the country. Africa has been encouraged and new energy has swept across the countries that were doing the training. The Church of God and Christian Life Assembly have now come on board to disciple the men in their multiple churches. We are training six strong disciples to be Facilitators in Germany and Italy with a vision to take it across their countries, and maybe parts of Europe.
There’s more. A small Hispanic church has just trained 4 dads here in Dallas. A Chaplain in a prison in central Texas has ordered and received 100 books to disciple all his men in the faith-based dorm plus men in the general population. While we were being still, and letting God be God, we were contacted a few weeks ago by the lead pastor in the Church of God in Ecuador. They have 1200 churches in that country, Peru, Columbia and Venezuela. We will soon be training 20 to 30 of their pastors/leaders to be Facilitators who will begin the discipleship across all their denomination. And at latest count, the ministry has equipped and discipled 45,000+ men over the past 4 years in numerous countries. And the Lord has continued to supply our financial needs.
So, what might you need resurrecting in your own life, family, business, whatever? Being still doesn’t mean to stay in bed and be idle. It means to pray, seek God’s wisdom and guidance, trusting, believing and watch him fulfill what only he can do. It may not look exactly like you thought, but it will be the absolute best. So, be still, and know that he is God. O, and be ready to be surprised, amazed and astonished. That’s just how his resurrection power works. The Apostles gave their lives, their all, telling the world about it. And so shall we. Hallelujah!
