Joanne and I have been watching the TV series, The Crown. It’s about Queen Elizabeth and her life. Because of her mother’s love for the Queen, Joanne has from childhood been a student of and an admirer of Queen Elizabeth and the history of the British hierarchy. Each episode has been an interesting period of her life. Stay with me!

Something happened in the last one that spoke to me. Prince Philip, her husband, and she were on a trip at a nice resort. They were in casual clothes inside and he made a comment about her sister that set her off. She began screaming, throwing things at him and grabbed what appeared to be a pole, maybe it was a sword, and started chasing him out of the house into the side yard. When suddenly, they looked up and saw four men with a movie camera aimed straight at them. The men were in shock and disbelief, and Elizabeth and Philip were truly embarrassed.

The next scene was incredible. She came out of the house later, dressed appropriately with her purse, walking toward the four newsmen. As she approached them, with a solemn look on her face, she asked what she could do for them. The cameraman opened the side of the camera, reached in and removed the video cassette/movie film and handed it to her. She, of course, was fully relieved, and thanked them. No one would ever see the humiliating scene. I thought, if that were today, the media would’ve had it on every news outlet across the world in minutes. My, how things have changed!

So, Bill, where are you headed? I thought immediately about us as humans, fallen sinners, with so much sin in our life, things that we would love to have hidden, and God is standing there, handing our life film back to us, as if it never happened due to the shed blood of Jesus Christ. “He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us” Psa. 103.10-12

Do you see this? And most importantly, do you believe this? Or are you still living in fear of all the things you have done, even since trusting Christ for your salvation? I have often heard that God has taken our sins from us and cast them into the ocean, and then posted a ‘No Fishing’ sign on the shore. God made Jesus to be sin who knew no sin. You have to put your mind around this. He became all of yours and my sin, even the world’s sins. And God now sees us in Christ as a forgiven, righteous saint that can enter his kingdom forever without condemnation.

The camera has stopped rolling! He has given you new freedom in Christ. No more shame. You can rejoice like Queen Elizabeth, because King Jesus is your propitiation, substitute, atonement, your all-in-all. Hallelujah. Now, since this is true, go tell someone about Jesus and his amazing love for them.
