“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom”
Psa. 90.12.
So much of our life we tend to be so busy accomplishing things or enduring trials and temptations, we seem to forget how to live one day at a time to the fullest. One commentary addresses this verse. “Wisdom repudiates autonomy and focuses on the Lord’s sovereignty and revelation.”
We get caught up in self-governing or running our own lives at the expense of relying on God’s wisdom. If he is Omniscient and we are not, why should we not ‘number’ our days by focusing on what God is teaching us through our joys and our sorrows. And since life is limited, we should recognize the temporary nature of our lives and be encouraged to prioritize our days, focusing on what is truly meaningful. It’s not just counting our days, but understanding that time is a precious gift from God. This will lead us to apply our hearts to wisdom which is the ability to understand the will of God for our lives and make good decisions.
My life verses are Matthew 6.33,34.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble”.
Matthew 6.33,34.
Live for him one day at a time. His provisions for a fruitful life will be provided.
And as you rise each morning, even this morning, let this be the song on your heart and on your lips.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”
Psa. 118.24.
Every day is precious!!
