Not only does God make everything beautiful in his creation, evidenced by this Penta bloom, and the Monarch butterfly. What do they have in common? Well, God created them both for a purpose. He provided a way for plants to grow and blossom which, in turn, provides a life-giving nectar for butterflies and bees. Butterflies are part of God’s ecosystem. Among other things, they pollinate, eat insects, provide beauty. I personally love watching them pump their wings and capture the sweet nourishment from plants like the Penta. And the Monarchs, like this one, are absolutely stunning.
How does this relate to us here on earth? All you have to do is go to the first chapter of Genesis and see what God created the first five days before he created Adam and Eve on the sixth. Everything, and I mean everything, that we as humans and his other creations needed to survive and prosper here has been provided. God is serious when he reveals promises in his scripture. And in Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he was telling them at the end that he had been supplied everything that he needed. And he goes on to express an incredible promise for you and me.
“And my God will supply every need of yours, according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4.19). And it doesn’t say may supply, it says will supply. And it doesn’t say a few of your needs but every need. And where do these come from? They are from the heavenly Father through his Son, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. And he sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, and in this world, to ensure that it is accomplished. He has all the riches that we would ever need to prosper on this earth. I’m not talking about making a lot of money, although that might be a part of it. I’m talking about everything we need to be an effective parent or child, witness, ambassador, servant-leader and much, much more.
So, in light of this, what are you worried about? Are you lacking in some areas of your life? Maybe it’s time to step up and by faith believe God’s promise. The One who created the heavens and the earth out of nothing and has done miraculous things for thousands of years, is now helpless to meet the need you have in your life? Faith in God moves mountains. Jesus said that. And the definition of faith in Hebrews is this. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Heb. 11.1).
Do you see this? Assurance and conviction! Powerful words! And the Spirit through the writer of Hebrews gives us the absolute recipe for victorious living here on earth. “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (vs. 6). As a born-again believer, it would be heresy to somehow think that God sacrificed his own Son for us and would now limit his provisions through this grace somehow.
And the Spirit makes it abundantly clear. “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting…” (James 1.6a). It’s there for the asking, all you need. The Monarch would agree. So, ask, seek, knock!!!
